A vocation even. You\u2019re not in it for fortune, nor even freedom. You do it because you can\u2019t <em>not<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some creative entrepreneurs embrace expansion, eager to scale their impact, reputation, and revenue. Others hesitate, worried that growth will dilute their creative vision or introduce overwhelming complexities (it will by the way).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone knows that I\u2019m all about growth; I\u2019m not shy about it. But people often misunderstand all the types of growth that are available to us. To me, growth isn\u2019t synonymous with \u201cmake more money;\u201d there are lots of ways to do it (<a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/level-up-your-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here are 15 that have nothing to do with revenue<\/a>, in fact).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, I want to pose a point of view of why you should pursue growth, in some form. And I don\u2019t want you to take it from me. I want you to hear the wisdom of our beloved Julia Jaksic of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caferoze.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caf\u00e9 Roze<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rozepony.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roze Pony<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want long-term success and a top-performing team, you can\u2019t afford <em>not<\/em> to grow your business. Stars are looking for growth. Top talent wants to work for a business, where they can grow.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growth isn\u2019t just about making more money (in fact, you will make less before you make more). It\u2019s about ensuring that your business, your employees, and <em>your<\/em> career have a future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Case Against Growth: Why Some Creative Businesses Resist Scaling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many creative business owners hesitate to grow because they fear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Loss of Creative Control<\/strong>: They worry that expanding means sacrificing quality or originality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Financial Risk<\/strong>: Hiring, inventory, rent, and larger operations come with higher expenses. (It\u2019s true).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/the-ceo-mindset-that-will-change-your-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Management Responsibilities<\/strong><\/a><em>:<\/em> More employees and customers mean more processes and less time for creative work. (Again, this is true \u2013 but only for a period of time).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/the-value-of-hard-work-without-burnout-balancing-effort-with-sustainability-in-creative-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Burnout<\/strong><\/a><em>:<\/em> The bigger the business, the heavier the weight of responsibility. When it\u2019s not managed proactively and carefully, your well-being can pay a price.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These concerns are valid. Growth done <em>poorly<\/em> or too quickly creates chaos and overwhelm. But staying small also has risks\u2014stagnation, disengagement, and limited career paths for you and your team. And please note my mention of your career. A limited career path for <em>you<\/em>, the owner, is a thing too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Case for Growth: Why It\u2019s Essential for Long-Term Success<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Growth Creates Career Paths<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your business stays the same year after year, your team will outgrow it. I\u2019d even go so far to say: if your business is growing, a little bit of churn is a sign of a <em>healthy<\/em> creative business. Not everyone wants to or has the capacity to grow in the way your business may require. Being on the same page about that, to make room for new talent with new skills is a win-win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growth-minded employees crave the opportunity to develop their skills, take on new challenges, and advance in their careers. Truly talented people <em>seek<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/learning-pit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">learning pits<\/a>. Without growth, they may leave for opportunities elsewhere, forcing you into an exhausting cycle of hiring and training new staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, as the Small Business CEO, you need career growth too. Personally, I spent a lot of time thinking about this in 2024: what\u2019s <em>my<\/em> next phase of professional development? I have a responsibility to keep myself sharp, evolving, and seeing my own career through the telescope. <a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/how-to-design-your-annual-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Evolving my own role<\/a> and stepping \u201cup\u201d in the business creates opportunities for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Growth Fuels Engagement and Innovation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a business isn\u2019t growing, it\u2019s easy for operations to become stale. A lack of new goals and challenges leads to disengagement for you, your employees, and your clients. Growth encourages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fresh ideas and creative problem-solving,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exciting opportunities for your team to develop new skills and own follow-through of their ideas, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dynamic workplace culture that keeps people motivated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A couple weeks ago, a client asked me something to the tune of: \u201cWill I have to push this hard forever?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, you must know: this person is <em>remarkably<\/em> growth oriented. Like\u2026 remarkably. In his case, I told him: it\u2019d really be up to him. He doesn\u2019t need to push as hard as he has this past year, forever. That could certainly lead to burnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BUT \u2013 to truly play the long-game in business, you can\u2019t ever fully rest in cruise control. The market won\u2019t allow it. You have to remain vigilant, constantly seeking opportunities to win \u2013 whether on offense or defense. They don\u2019t always have to be Superbowl-style plays; but yes, you must remain vigilant. And that means growing in some way, year after year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Growth Increases Your Impact, Longevity, &amp; Legacy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Creative entrepreneurs often start businesses because they want to share their vision with the world. Growth allows your ripples to have a further-reaching effect on the world around \u2013 and beyond &#8211; you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growth is the fuel that allows you to reach more customers, launch new products, expand into new markets, and create healthy and creative livelihoods for more vendors, contractors, and employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Grow Without Losing Your Uniqueness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the idea of growth feels overwhelming, start small. Here\u2019s how Ellevated Outcomes helps creative business owners expand sustainably, while staying true to your creative vision:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. <strong>Stabilize.<\/strong> Not every creative business is in chaos when they come to us, but some are. There\u2019s good news and bad news (but mostly good news): there\u2019s still lots of work to do, to get you ready for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again, I\u2019d direct you to Product &amp; Pricing. We have literally never seen a business that didn\u2019t have more \u201cjuice\u201d to squeeze in this category. It&#8217;s the reason whyl Product &amp; Pricing is the foundation of our Ellevated Outcomes Framework<sup>TM<\/sup>. If you have cracks in your foundation, you won\u2019t get the best bang for your buck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After Product &amp; Pricing, you should build your operations and systems. You need a system for everything: Marketing &amp; Business Development, Processes, Financials\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. <strong>Grow.&nbsp;<\/strong>Now, you\u2019re ready to add fuel to your fire, in the most efficient and effective way possible. This fuel will be mainly in the forms of the aforementioned <a href=\"https:\/\/zudigitest.com\/ellevatedoutcomes\/develop-a-marketing-and-business-development-culture\/\">Marketing &amp; Business Development<\/a> and People.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And don\u2019t get me wrong; these 3 steps aren\u2019t going to happen in a perfectly linear process. For those who are really incentivized to grow, you\u2019ll be planning, testing, implementing and back around, simultaneously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Growth Isn\u2019t Optional. It\u2019s the Path to Long-Term Success.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staying small might seem like the \u201csafe\u201d route; but in reality, it can lead to stagnation, disengagement, and financial instability. To keep yourself and your team engaged for the long haul, your business must evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growth doesn\u2019t mean sacrificing creativity or authenticity; it means ensuring that your creative business thrives for years to come. It means ensuring that your <em>creativity<\/em> thrives for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having and growing a creative business isn\u2019t a zero-sum game. You don\u2019t have to choose between business and creativity.
